a nice opening. there is some great guitar work by larry in this deal. an absolutely beautiful scarlet...loved the china cat tease! overall thought the first set was pretty standard but has some very nice moments. always a treat to hear an acoustic set highlighted by an always fun deep ellum, a gorgeous friend of the devil (love the extra verse sung by phil) that lead into an incredible bluegrassy big mon. wow do they come out swinging in this third set. a great playin into a rockin cumberland. this uncle johns band might be my favorite piece of music ive heard from this tour so far. an absolutely out there mountains of the moon. they close it out on fire with a terrapin station that comes out of absolutely nowhere into a great closing rider. apparently the boys werent done blowing our minds as they encored with a full help->slip->franklin

It think this show was an absolute blast! A little lose at times and tight as a drum at others. The first set jammed! The acoustic set was a total suprise for me. Cumberland brought down the house! The Terrapin out of Mountains literally came from NOWHERE!
Phil brings these young talented musicians out on tour so they can see and feel how it's supposed to be done! Lets all just be thankful he is still sharing this wonderful music with us instead of being crytical of the performance. I'm so happy to catch him when I can that I enjoy every note....no matter how it's played!

As a former taper (1986-1994), I must say this show was great live as is this recording. Great Job. Only problem is track two is Good Morning Little Schoolgirl NOT The Golden Rd

Just my opinion, but without Molo propelling them on, the wheels woulda come off the wagon several times in Philly. They came out a little on the loose side, and found their groove a few times, but not consistently. Jackie fussed over his guitars a bit much, which threw the ensemble off course at times. By the end, it seemed Phil was just bulldozing his way out with Terrapin and Rider. I could see him signaling to get on with it, which for Phil is saying quite a lot!
I know it's a new lineup, but on this night they weren't nearly as tight as the summer 2006 band.
This recording is superb, and captures dynamics I didn't hear from where I stood at extreme stage right.
